Summary

Gerald B. Healy, M.D., received his undergraduate degree from Boston College in 1963 and his M.D. degree from Boston University in 1967. He is currently Professor of Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School and is Otolaryngologist-in-Chief and Surgeon-in-Chief at The Children's Hospital in Boston.

He is a member of numerous honorary societies, including the Triological Society, the American Laryngological Association, the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery as well as serving as President of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the American Bronchoesophageal Association. He is currently Secretary of the American Laryngological Association and President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Surgeons for 1996-1997. In 1986, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Otolaryngology and is currently Vice President-Elect of the ABO.

Dr. Healy has been the leader of funded peer-reviewed research projects studying the use of interferon for recurrent respiratory papillomatosis and the prevention of otitis media in infants and children. He has received international acclaim for his pioneering work with laser surgery. Dr. Healy is the author of more than 114 peer-reviewed publications and 19 book chapters and/or monographs.
